Submissions may represent how the pursuit of equality still manifests itself today or an image capturing the connection across generations of female athletes. It could be a moment of playing a sport or supporting as a fan or recognizing a forgotten women’s sports pioneer.

“The passing of Title IX has created opportunities for over a half-century that have helped generations of women grow as leaders on and off the field,” said Jamie Lisanti, Assistant Managing Editor, Projects at Sports Illustrated. “Sports Illustrated is committed to telling those stories and more as we examine how far the spirit of Title IX has come and where it goes from here.”

Photos can be shared on social media with the tag #BecauseOfTitleIX or uploaded to SI through this link by April 15. The magazine, on sale May 19, will spotlight the history of Title IX and a new generation of advocates who are amplifying its spirit with an eye toward the next 50 years.
