It’s time to vote for The News-Press Athlete of the Week sponsored by Babcock Ranch for April 18-23.
Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by area coaches during the week. Voting begins at 10 a.m. Monday and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Coaches can email scores to [email protected]. The deadline for each night’s results is 10:30 p.m. Voting is restricted to once per device an hour.

Boys track
Wes Egalite, Fort Myers: Egalite captured the title in the 300 hurdles and came in second in the 110 at the Class 3A-District 12 track meet on April 23.
Girls track
Noel Davis, North Fort Myers: Davis’ performance helped the Red Knights win their first district title in 24 years. Davis won the high jump, came in second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles and was also part of North’s winning 4×100 relay team.
Baseball
Bryce Genton, Estero: Genton got the win for the Wildcats, striking out eight batters in the team’s 7-3 win against South Fort Myers on April 21.
Softball
Katie Campbell, Mariner: Campbell led the Tritons with two home runs and six RBI in the team’s 16-5 win against Lemon Bay on April 21.
Boys lacrosse
Chase Thompson, Canterbury: Thompson led Canterbury with five goals, bringing his total to 43 on the season, to help the team advance in the playoffs with a 13-4 win against Osceola on April 20.
Girls tennis
Alexie Jacob de Beucken, Bishop Verot: Jacob de Beucken led the Vikings with wins in singles and doubles to help the team defeat Lemon Bay for the girls regional tennis title on April 21.
Boys weightlifting
Charles Michel, Fort Myers: Seeded sixth, Michel won the Class 2A state title at 199 pounds with a lift of 220 on April 22.
