Towns And Hernangomez Shine In The Pelicans-Timberwolves

Minnesota wins 96-110 with Dominican leading scorer with 28 points. Willy finishes as the best scorer for Pelicans after adding 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Not every day a Dominican and a Spaniard led the scoring of their teams in an NBA game. It happened this Monday at the Pelicans-Timberwolves. Willy Hernangómez was the home top scorer and Karl-Anthony Towns was the unsurprising visiting leader.

The game was easily dominated by Minnesota, who won 96-110 to sign their fourth consecutive victory and already close to 50% of victories in the course (8-9).

The 21-38 of the second quarter set the tone for the game, which came to halftime 50-66 with a spectacular performance by Towns, who at halftime had 23 points and 4 rebounds.

There was no emotion whatsoever in the second half, ending the game with 14 points ahead of Minnesota, which had Towns with 28 points, 10 rebounds and 2 assists in 35 minutes of play (+24 for Minnesota with him in play).

The game also left us participating in the game for 3 minutes with Leandro Bolmaro. The Argentine played when the game was already defined. He captured 1 rebound and gave 1 assist.

But the big surprise came from the hand of Willy Hernangómez, whom his coach put into play with the match in full competition. He did it out of sheer necessity, because Valanciunas spent the whole night full of fouls (he played 19 minutes and committed 5) and because Hayes was not called up this time because he was out.

Under these dire circumstances, Willy had a chance and knocked loudly on his coach’s door with a spectacular performance. The Madrid player added 19 points and 11 rebounds in 22 minutes, showing himself almost infallible (8 of 9 in the field goal). With him, the Pelicans did a +17. Hernangómez was not only the top scorer for his team, but he was also the best +/- present of the entire local squad!

The Pelicans, who have 3 wins in 19 games, had Brandon Ingram 2 of 13 on the field goal. The locals gave up 21 rebounds from their rim, did not have a triple and lost 21 balls. Figures not to win.

In Minnesota, in addition to the decisive Towns, 18 points from Anthony Edwards, who made a bad first half and fixed it after the break, and 16 points and 11 rebounds from Jarred Vanderbilt. All this on a horrifying night for D’Angelo Russell, which was not an obstacle for his team to win.
