Brighton vs Man Utd (4-0) May 7, 2022 Match Preview and Stats

Ralf Rangnick takes his Manchester United side away to the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening to face Brighton and Hove Albion with their Champions League hopes all-but over.

The Red Devils head into the fixture sixth in the Premier League table, five points behind fourth placed Arsenal but they have played two games more.

Despite the fact some teams only sit on 33 games played and those around them have played 34, Man Utd have just two Premier League fixtures left of their season.

They will face Crystal Palace on the final day of the season, two weeks after their trip to the south coast to play Brighton.

Brighton head into the game after a 3-0 demolition of Wolverhampton Wanderers so spirits will be high in Graham Potter’s camp.

As for Man Utd, their win over Brentford at Old Trafford last weekend ended a run of three without a win which dented any remaining Champions League ambitions.

They will likely head into the Europa League, however, as West Ham sit six points behind in seventh, although they also have a game in hand.

Rangnick will be without Paul Pogba, Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho against Brighton, but will be buoyed by the return of Fred, who made his comeback off the bench against Brentford.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could also complete his return to full fitness but it’s unlikely he displaces Diogo Dalot in any case. Phil Jones appeared as a substitute in the victory over Brentford, but Victor Lindelof and Raphael Varane are the likely pairing Rangnick will choose.

Anthony Elanga and Juan Mata will be given starts following their performances last weekend, leaving Marcus Rashford on the bench.

Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line.
